Okay, I didn't exactly become a hero. The Prince was totally knocked out, so really all I did was make sure he stayed above water all night. He was pretty pale and cold, so I was a little worried that he was actually going to die... what the hell would I have done with a human corpse?
So I stayed there on the rocks all night with him. And yeah, okay Hans you got me, soooometimes I would kiss his forehead and play with his hair - WHATEVER. I was an adolescent girl who was close to a boy for the first time! And he was unconscious, who cares.
Anyways, we drifted up to this really pretty little bay early in the morning, and I figured that it was the perfect spot to drop off my almost-dead prince and wait for other humans to find him and take care of him. This way he wouldn't be totally freaked out when he woke up in the care of a half-human half-fish thing.
(Also, yes, I was terrified about how I had just stayed out all night. Turning 15 only meant I could go up for a little bit, not the whole night! I tried not to think about it too much because I was so fascinated/infatuated with the Prince.)
I laid the Prince on the shore and then swam back out into the bay to watch what would happen next. I tried to disguise myself with some foam, as Hans pointed out, which was absolutely disgusting. So gross. I will never ever ever put sea foam on my face again. I was breaking out for weeks.
Finally some young girls (dammit) got out of church or school, I couldn't really tell, and ran down to the shore. One of them found the Prince and went to go get some reinforcements. OF COURSE this is when the Prince decided to wake up - he thanked all of those dumb humans for saving him! He didn't know what had actually happened. I have to say, I was a little crushed. My excuse is that I was a dramatic young teen. Dramatic young teens take everything very personally.
