Okay, so, my dad is king of the sea. Sorry -- King of the Sea. (He gets really picky about that.)
That might sound intimidating, and it probably should be, but he's actually a pretty cool guy. The original story refers to him as Sea King, which he raised some hell about at first, but he has grown to like it. The Disney movie refers to him as Triton. Like the Greek god. Like what the hell, Disney, did you read the story at all?
When Triton caught wind of this, he came over and yelled at my dad for a while. But they both came to the agreement that they can't control humans, their imaginations, or what they write, so they decided to keep the monsoons and tsunamis to a minimum that year.
(They may have also realized that humans might not know the difference. Triton controls the east seas and the King of the Sea controls the west seas. This probably isn't very apparent to humans because it doesn't appear anywhere in their world - except for maritime law of course.)
My sisters are kind of dumb bitches. Excuse my French. They all just couldn't waaaait to get out of the water and discover the human world for a little bit. But then they were satisfied AFTER ONE VISIT and were perfectly content coming back to the sea and marring mermen and raising merbabies. So boring. But I couldn't protest or say anything because I had to be the perfect young princess (to raise interest in suitors, of course).
Then there's my grandma. Disney completely cut her out, for some reason. It makes no sense because she's the one who basically raised us after our mom died. Sure, she's a little eccentric; She wears 12 oysters on her tail to show her status...but the highest you're supposed to wear is 6. I guess she just thinks she's twice as powerful? Ugh, so senile. But she truly does love us. And she truly did raise us. Granted, I don't agree with her morals, but she did a heck of a job teaching us our manners.
Those are really the most important people in the exposition of my story that you guys should know about. I'll this post here for now, it's getting a little lengthy. Check back later for more updates!
